Time to Party!

Because it's Friday, but also because we deserve a party as a reward for our hard work during the past few month, whether we entered the New Voices Competition or held the hands of contestants.
For this party there are no burly bouncers and no guest list, just an open house for anyone who's suffering PTRSD (Post Traumatic Rose-Stress Disorder), Waitingforthelistitis or just fancies a nice party :-)

Help yourself to champagne and cake and mingle with the celebrities - Michael Weatherly and Daniel Craig have dressed up for us,
Simon Baker has gone for smart casual but Gilles Marini can't seem to keep
his clothes on and has made himself at home :-) So, get out those pink
feather boas, Ugg boots or whatever
takes your fancy. It's time to let off some steam and recharge those batteries for the next stage of our writing journey...

If anyone fancies a party game how about writing a story in ten words for Chick Lit Shorties? There are fab prizes - critiques, blog overhauls, Amazon gift cards... And we're not going to mention the 'c' word because this is about having fun. So while 'I entered New Voices and now I'm a nervous wreck' is a story in ten words and meets the requirements of the 'c' word it's not quite in the spirit of things. If you want to know more click here.

In keeping with the party spirit we also have a prize to award - Tami has won a copy of Suzanne Brandyn's 'Heat in the Outback'. Tami please pop over to Suzanne's website and use the contact info to let her have your snail mail address, the link is here.

Now, what music shall I put on, any requests?

Thanks for the invite, Lorraine! I'd like to hear Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!

Yes, that's 80s too. Are we Minxes showing our age?

That really is a strategically placed piece of toast in that photo...

Can I eat that one as a canape? Peanut butter optional.

Congratulations to everyone who's worked so hard. That's definitely worth celebrating.

Those cupcakes look fabulous. I'm guessing you get to eat them off your celebrity of choice, right? ;)

Well done, Minxes for keeping everyone's spirits up! Nice party!

Gilles, come to mama!

Sorry - already tiddly from champagne over at Lorraine's blog. *hic*

Waves at everyone from where I'm slumped in a corner clutching my bottle of lucozade! Who knew organizing a party could be so exhausting, those celebs can be very demanding...

I think Jo P has invented a new cocktail for anyone who's interested - the KOKO (Keep on Keeping on!)

As for the 80's music, your requests are granted :-)

Abba, please. "Dancing Queen." Will go well with my tiara and bare feet. Lost the stilettos after Vodka shot No. 4... I have a bag of pretzels in my purse if anyone needs something salty with their sweet... ; )

I'm pulling up a bar stool and getting cosy with Gilles and definitely indulging in one (or a few) of those KOKO cocktails!! Thanks Minxy ladies!

Lorraine said...

KOKO cocktail for me too! In fact KOKO's all round served by a celebrity of your choice for anyone feeling glum post list!

Maisey said...

You all rock!! You wrote some fab chapters and you all deserve requests and success!! Here's to you! *raises glass* *steals Gilles' toast*

We need to perfect the recipe for our KOKO's - i'm thinking they have to be pink for romance... now what will make them pink?

Oooh, Raspberry Vodka?
Lets top that up with champagne too...

OMG. Its' delicious girls. :o)

Hey! Gilles! Pass these around!

Maisey, i've whizzed you up a virgin KOKO to eat with your toast!

Lovely Daniel! I'll have a chocolate martini thanks. You can have Hoo to do bar duty if you like - he's good with lots of orders! :-)

joanne pibworth said...

Our party is complete, HOO is here!

Woo hoo!

(see what I did there?....err, I'll get my coat)

Elissa Graham said...

Cupcakes, cocktails and cuties!!! Count me in. Howdy Hoo! Yup line up those B52s and while I'm waiting I'll have one of whatever Joanne P is drinking - *wipes tears from eyes* that was too funny.

A toast!(no Maisey not Gilles' toast) To a third NV List: Awesome Writers Too Fabulous To Make The First Two Lists!!! Salute!

Maisey said...

Elissa, indeed!!

Joanne, I am honored you remembered I like mine virgin. :D Bring it on!!

We had these gorgeous pink cocktails at the harl party this year that were made with hibiscus syrup...Hoo, make mine Elaine pre Italian Billionaire please! (virgin...heh)

Lorraine said...

LOL :-)

Hey, is Hoo equally good at clearing up? Could use a hand/arm/leg with the cup cake crumbs, slumped romance writers under tables etc.

Romy said...

I've arrived late for the party. Maybe it's the after party? But to compensate, I've brought a case of South African champagne. Though these days we're only allowed to call it 'sparkling wine' aren't we?

Hoo - feel free to start serving. I'll have mine with that hibiscus syrup. Sounds yummy!

And if anyone's looking for me, I'm the one chatting up Simon Baker in the corner.

joanne pibworth said...

ooh, it's rolled over to night 2!
I would truly love some champagne with hibiscus Romy, you are a minx after my own heart.
Bottoms up lovely! x

Holy schmoly... I didn't expect Sawyer to serve me.

I have died and gone to minxy heaven.

Suzanne Jones said...

You had me at Daniel Craig (sigh). But I am prepared to fight JoP for Sawyer.

Ooh, I found Hugh Jackman in the kitchen! He & I are sharing a KOKO cocktail and a packet of nuts. Great party, hope it goes on all week!
